Independent Artists of Nashville. Creators Never Stop Creating.

Nashville is known as Music City. It's a place where artists travel from all across the country to pursue their dreams of becoming the next biggest thing. Some local artists use their craft to create a sound that is entirely unique and not heard of by mainstream music. Laura Nicholson, a 28-year-old from Eagan, Minnesota, moved to Nashville right after college. She became interested in singing at 5-years-old. One of the biggest influences in her life, her mother, taught her how to harmonize and learn the basics of music and what it has to offer. Fast forward to 12-years of age; she met her now mentor, Caitlyn Smith. A worship leader at her church. After meeting, she quickly became an essential person in Laura's life as she decided to pursue her music dream. She sang in church, learned to play guitar, and even started writing her own lyrics. Laura stated she "loves to touch people through music." Though music was a significant portion of her life, she, like any other teen, decided to take a step back and enjoy the rest of her adolescent years. She played on her golf team in college, enjoyed hanging out with her friends, and majored in Marketing in her undergrad degree.

Throughout some time, she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. It wasn't until she decided to really push herself in making music her full-time job. So, naturally, she released a song and uploaded it to YouTube. She was so proud of the song and got a lot of positive feedback. She even heard from her childhood mentor, Caitlyn, who now lived in Nashville, Tennessee. Caitlyn absolutely loved the song and even invited Laura to move to Nashville and stay with her while she figured out her next move on honing her craft. So, Laura packed her bags, and to Nashville, she went!

Now, fast-forward a few years, Laura is currently doing music full time, along with her recent painting business that has taken off since the start of the pandemic. She loves that she's able to be creative in both jobs and still have time to write songs that people will not only like, but be something they can relate to as well.

There's a new song in the works to be released; it's called "Blue Bird." To say this song is excellent is an understatement. It's the type of song you listen to when you doubt your talent, your journey and don't know if chasing the dream is worth it. Did I mention Laura also submitted this song in a songwriting competition? Yep! Out of 3,000 applicants, Laura made the top 10! Now I'm not biased or anything, but dang. That's talent. This song just hits you differently. It has a slow build that leads into the bridge bringing beautiful harmonies, which anyone would get chills from. If you want to listen to a song that actually gives you the motivation needed to kick start those dreams, then this. Is. For. You! Blue Bird is coming soon. We don't have a definitive time yet as to when it will be released. But when I know? You'll know as well.
