Texas is known for its beautiful and rowdy cities. They bring a sense of culture, sass, and some country attitude—the south what a different world and this artist is just getting started. Tiona Campbell! A rising Christian country star in the making, she doesn't even know how talented she is. She was born and raised in a cute little country town called San Augustine, a little over 100 miles outside Houston. Tiona grew up in the music scene. With her mother, father, and brother working and worshiping at their local church, there was no doubt that this little singer was destined for a life in the music business. After her adolescent years, Tiona met and unfortunately was manipulated into a relationship with someone who was no example of a Godly man. At 17-years-old, she was in her senior year of high school when she found out she was pregnant. She married him in hopes of doing the right thing, but because of the relationship, she felt as though God could "never use her again." It took years of trial and error before Tiona learned the truth behind her story and what was in store for her.
After taking time to grow within her faith, she met and fell head over heels for her current husband. Now, living in Houston, she's never been happier and was blessed with a baby girl, Adalee. Fast forward a few more years, and Tiona was living the life she deserved, but she still felt like something was missing. She was blindsided with a gentle whisper from the Holy Spirit saying, "write a song." She mentions that it was "something that I knew God wanted me to do." So, Tiona obeyed the direction she was being pointed in and did some research to find local vocal coaches. She stumbled upon Sarah Kelly, a Grammy-nominated musician. Sarah offered a songwriters workshop that included everything Tiona wanted to learn about. From songwriting to honing her craft in her voice to now making the connections needed to have her songs featured nationwide. Tiona is on the path to success as she pushes forward with trips to Nashville and working with producers to create a sound that will not only make her stand out but bring her faith into her lyrics as well.
I've gotten the chance to listen to some of her work on Spotify. I can say my favorite is "Ride of My Life." Wow. What a song to relate to. As a listener, it's crucial to create a piece that people can connect with. Listening to a music piece that tells a story brings memories for the listener within their own life. The song is about being fearless, stepping deep within faith, and trusting the plan God has in store for our lives. I highly recommend this song. It just gets you in the feels in the right way and makes you want to stand up, throw your hands in the air, do some praising and prepare for the rollercoaster we call life.
